About this plant

The fruit of Elaeis guineensis yields palm oil rich in tocotrienols, vitamin E compounds with antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. Native to West Africa, where it was used medicinally and ritually for millennia. Transplanted to Southeast Asia by British and Dutch colonists in the 19th century, it became the world's most produced vegetable oil.
