About this plant
The oleo-gum-resin of Dorema ammoniacum contains salicylates and ammoresinol, a diterpene with expectorant and antispasmodic properties. Named after the Temple of Jupiter Ammon in the Libyan Sahara, near where the resin was historically traded. Dioscorides and Galen both described its expectorant properties. Native to the arid steppes of Iran, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
