About this plant
The aromatic seed capsules of Elettaria cardamomum contain 1,8-cineole and alpha-terpinyl acetate with carminative and spasmolytic properties. Known as the Queen of Spices in India, used in Ayurveda for digestive and respiratory complaints for over 3,000 years. Vikings discovered cardamom in Constantinople and brought it to Scandinavia, where it remains a defining flavour in Nordic baking.
