About this plant

The fruit, seeds and leaves of Vitis vinifera contain resveratrol, a stilbenoid polyphenol with cardioprotective properties, and oligomeric proanthocyanidins that are among the most potent natural antioxidants. Wine has been central to medicine since antiquity. Hippocrates prescribed it for fevers, wound care and convalescence. The French Paradox, linking moderate red wine consumption to lower cardiovascular mortality, sparked global interest in grape polyphenols.
