About this plant

The fruit and bark of Punica granatum contain punicalagin, an extraordinarily potent ellagitannin antioxidant, and punicic acid, a conjugated fatty acid unique to pomegranate seed oil. Cultivated since at least 3000 BCE across the Middle East and Mediterranean. The fruit symbolises fertility, abundance and eternal life in Greek, Persian, Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions.
