About this plant

The leaves of Menyanthes trifoliata contain menyanthin and loganin, intensely bitter iridoid glycosides traditionally used as a digestive tonic and appetite stimulant. This aquatic plant grows in bogs and shallow water across Scandinavia. The German name Fieberklee reflects its traditional use for fevers. Listed in the European Pharmacopoeia. One of the most characteristic Nordic wetland medicinal plants.
