About this plant
The seeds of Linum usitatissimum contain alpha-linolenic acid, the richest plant source of omega-3 fatty acids, and secoisolariciresinol diglucoside, the highest lignan content of any food. A major Viking Age crop, with seeds found in the Oseberg ship burial. 100,000 charred flax seeds found at Tjudnäs, Åland Islands, dated 880-1020 AD.
