About this plant

The resin of Picea abies contains alpha-pinene and abietic acid, a diterpene effective against MRSA. The Finnish spruce resin salve tradition has been used for centuries to treat wounds, ulcers and burns. The Finnish medical device Abilar, a 10% spruce resin salve approved in 2008, translates this traditional knowledge with clinical confirmation.
