About this plant
The aerial parts of Chelidonium majus exude a distinctive orange-yellow latex containing chelidonine and berberine, isoquinoline alkaloids with antispasmodic and choleretic properties. Traditionally used across Europe for warts, liver complaints and bile flow. The Danish name svaleurt means swallow herb, derived from Pliny's observation that swallows used the plant to restore their fledglings' eyesight.
