About this plant
The flowers of Tilia cordata contain tiliroside, a hepatoprotective flavonol, and farnesol, a sedative sesquiterpene. Traditionally used as a diaphoretic in feverish colds. One of the most significant Scandinavian trees, the tuntre or sacred guardian tree at farmstead centres. Carl Linnaeus himself took his surname from the linden.
