About this plant
The leaves and stems of Ruta graveolens contain rutin, the flavonoid glycoside literally named after this plant, along with phototoxic furanocoumarins including bergapten and psoralen. One of the most important protective herbs of the ancient Mediterranean. Dioscorides, Pliny and Culpeper all described its properties extensively.
