About this plant

The dried flower heads of Matricaria chamomilla have been traditionally used across Europe for relief of gastrointestinal complaints, mild skin inflammations, and respiratory symptoms. The flowers contain apigenin, a flavonoid that binds benzodiazepine receptors, and the anti-inflammatory sesquiterpene α-bisabolol. Documented by Dioscorides in the 1st century AD and continuously used in European medicine for over 2,000 years.
