About this plant
The female hop cones of Humulus lupulus contain humulone, whose degradation product 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol produces sedative effects, and xanthohumol, a prenylated chalcone that influences GABA receptors. Traditionally used for sleep and mild stress. A 1311 Norwegian monastery document from Trondheim is among the earliest Nordic hop references.
