About this plant
The leaves and stems of Viscum album contain viscotoxins peaking in summer and mistletoe lectins peaking in winter, a remarkable seasonal variation. Pliny described Druids cutting mistletoe from sacred oaks with golden sickles. In Norse mythology, a dart of mistletoe kills the god Baldr. Rudolf Steiner proposed mistletoe extract for cancer therapy in 1920.
