About this plant
The oleoresin of Copaifera officinalis contains beta-caryophyllene, a sesquiterpene that acts as a selective CB2 cannabinoid receptor agonist with anti-inflammatory properties. Amazonian indigenous peoples have tapped copaiba trees for wound treatment for centuries. Portuguese Jesuit missionaries documented the resin's healing properties in the 16th century. It entered European pharmacopoeias as Balsamum Copaivae.
