About this plant

The fruit of Cocos nucifera yields lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid with antimicrobial properties comprising approximately 50% of coconut oil. In Ayurveda, known as Kalpavriksha, the tree that fulfils all wishes. Coconut water is naturally sterile and was used as emergency intravenous fluid during the Second World War.
