The root of Krameria triandra contains up to 15% proanthocyanidins, astringent tannins traditionally used for oral inflammation and dental health. The Quechua name means plant that crawls on the ground. Discovered by Spanish botanists during the Royal Botanical Expedition to Peru commissioned by King Charles III in 1777.
